JSU in Action is designed for teens that are emerging leaders and are passionate about social action. The group will tour, taste, and experience Israel in an incredible way with JSU. In addition to the classic Israel experiences, they will also delve into meaningful volunteer opportunities and receive life-changing leadership training.
The optional pre trip experience trip begins in Rwanda at the Shalom Agahozo Youth Village where participants will get hands on experience working with youth that are still living in the shadows of the Rwanda genocide. Modeled after Yemin Orde, an Israeli youth village established in 1953 to care for orphans of the Holocaust, Agahozo-Shalom is a place where “tears are dried” (from the Kinyarwanda word “agahozo”) and where vulnerable youth can “live in peace” (from the Hebrew word “shalom”).The group will then head to Israel to join the rest of the group.
To ensure proper training and follow up, we will be working with the JSU Relief Mission team to have pre-trip sessions and post trip local volunteer mission options.
